Abdul Hameed Shoman Award for Science Teachers in Jordanian Elementary and Secondary
The award was established in 1982 and is open to all science teachers in Jordan’s schools, within the scientific subjects they teach at the elementary and secondary school levels. The encouragement award is given once every two years to winning teachers who develop or invent scientific experiments that depend on plans of projects introduced by them and approved by the scientific committee for the award, which is comprised of distinguished professors and experts. Experiments should be based on schools’ science curriculum, can be prepared at minimum costs, and can be conducted before students so that they may benefit from direct observation, and by which they will be aided in understanding concepts and in developing their scientific skills. A limited number of these plans is selected to receive financial support for conducting the experiments that are based on them, then the winners are selected by the decision of the judging committee with the approval of the scientific committee for the award.
