Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation Inaugurates a Public Library in Al-Baq`a

Under the patronage of the Director General Mr. Thabet Al-Taher of Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation a public library was inaugurated on Sunday 10/5/2009 inside the Baq`a Camp Services Committee Building .

The Foundation supported the establishment of the library through preparing & furnishing it with books and references, in cooperation with the Palestinian Affairs Department – Foreign Ministry.

In his word , Mr. Al-Taher stressed the intention of the Foundation to expand its support of establishing libraries Kingdom-Wide for the purpose of serving people at their locations.

The library was equipped with an appropriate collection of books and references enabling it to serve researchers, students, pupils, and general public.

With the inauguration of Al-Baq`a Library, the total of the libraries being established and supported by the Foundation tops twelve distributed in the Jordanian Governorates as follows : Irbid, Taffilah, Mafraq, Jerash, Madaba, Karak, Sult, Aqaba, Zarqa, Ma`an, and Rasseifah , in addition to the Mobile Library in cooperation with Ministry of Culture and Haya Cultural Center.

Mr. Al-Taher elaborated that the role of Shoman Foundation is not restricted to the inauguration of the library but also maintaining its futuristic needs and requirements as well as modernizing and updating its collection, like other libraries, and providing appropriate technical training to its potential staff.

According to the statistics, it should be noted that the Governorates libraries Kingdome-wide served and received almost seventy thousand customers during 2008.
