A Cooperation Agreement between Ministry of Education and the Abdul Hamid Shoman Foundation

The Ministry of Education and the Abdul Hamid Shoman Foundation signed on Tuesday 19/12/2011 a Cooperation Agreement relating to the Abdul Hameed Shoman Award for science teachers at elementary and secondary schools. The Memorandum of cooperation was signed by the Minister of Education, Dr. Eid Dhayyat, and the Director of the Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation Thabit Al-Taher in the presence of the Secretary General of the Ministry of Directorates Affairs, Sattam Awwad.

The two sides agreed to form "The Scientific Committee for the Abdul Hameed Shoman Award" comprising of representatives of the Ministry of Education, the Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation and public universities in Jordan. The tasks of the Committee include the approval of suitable scientific events and activities, laying down their specifications, reviewing the mechanisms for their implementation and disbursing the sums allotted for accomplishing the scientific activities and events according to the progress achieved.

According to the Agreement (Memorandum) the Ministry of Education shall provide the suitable environment for work insofar as locations, technical and administrative services, scientific consulting, and also offer consulting to the Committee through its approval of the events to be implemented, and to be informed of the phases of implementation of the activities, circulate the winning projects among the schools, and follow up on the process of achieving benefit from the projects and activities on an annual basis.

On its part, the Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation will undertake to allocate the sums necessary for covering the costs of the activities and events that the Committee decides upon, and to publicize to the targeted quarters the competition and the conditions for participating in it, while cooperating with the Ministry to organize colloquia for targeted groups to explain the philosophy and aims of the award.
