Library Sections

 Acquisition and Periodicals Section
This section acquires different kinds of information sources, such as, books, periodicals, data bases, and audiovisual materials, following the various known acquistion systems, such as, purchasing, subscription, deposit, donation, and exchanging. In order to develop the library collection for a balanced collection of information sources. The section is also in charge of registration and binding the library materials, as a prelude to indexing and classification operation.

Indexing and Projects Section
This section provides the technical preparation of library material to ensure easy access to material and information content. The preparation includes indexing, classification and cataloging of material in accordance with international rules and systems. The library uses Dewey Decimal Classification System (22nd edition), and Anglo-American Cataloging Rules(2nd edition) and amendments to them. The section also implements and oversees projects undertaken by the library, such as: publication of unified lists of Arabic and foreign periodicals in Jordan; supporting libraries in the Kingdom’s governorates as well as those in Palestine; publication of the Expanded Thesaurus (Maknaz) published by the Foundation in cooperation with Jum’ah Al-Majid Center for Culture and Heritage, and the Dubai Municipality in the United Arab Emirates; taking part in the Arabization project of Dewey Decimal Classification system, initiated by the Arab League Educational Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO); and managing the operation of the Mobile Library, in cooperation with Haya Cultural Center.

Users Services Section
This section is considered as a connection between library and the users community. The section provides all library and information services in both modern and traditional ways, by answering persons, users inquires, by phone, regular mail or e-mail; providing guidance to users with the best use of library and information sources, providing all research services to researchers and academicians, external lending to patrons and providing access to the internet. All these services are offered free of charge.
