His Excellency Mr. Khaled Al-Irani is a Member of the Senate of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, and served as the Director-General of the Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature (RSCN) in 1996 and 2005. He has held ministerial positions in former Jordanian governments, as a Minister of Environment and Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources. He also serves as a Member of the Board of Directors of the Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation.
During his tenure as Director-General of the Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature (RSCN), Al-Irani has taken upon himself the responsibility of establishing four nature reserves, covering more than 1.5% of the total area of Jordan, and has also played a key role in preparing Jordan’s National Biodiversity Strategy and developing its relevant Action Plan.
Al-Irani holds a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture - Soil Science, and a Master of Science in Drylands Management from the University of Jordan, as well as a Master of Tourism and Natural Reserves Management from the University of New Mexico, USA.
