The Abdul Hameed Shoman Award for Children’s Literature’ Scientific Committee
The Abdul Hameed Shoman Award for Children's Literature is supervised by a Scientific Committee, composed of a chairman and members with relevant experience and competencies in the Award’s subject of interest. In this respect, the Scientific Committee is in charge of formulating the Application Form, opening the door to participation, identifying deadlines, determining the Abdul Hameed Shoman Award for Children's Literature subjects, as well as appointing jury members with extensive experience and competencies in the Award’s subjects of interest. Furthermore, it announces the names of the winners through the appropriate means, upon reviewing the decisions of the jury in preparation for their announcement.
The Abdul Hameed Shoman Award for Children's Literature Scientific committee consists of:
Haifa Najjar, Chairman
Haifa Najjar is the Director-General of the Ahliyyah School for Girls and the Bishop’s School for Boys, as well as a Member of the Board of Trustees of the King Abdullah Fund for Development (KAFD). She has also held many administrative positions and memberships of various boards of directors and committees. Furthermore, she has won several awards, including the 2001 Al-Hussein Fund for Excellence Award.
Rawda Fahim Mohammad Al-Farakh, Member
Rawda Fahim Mohammad Al-Farakh is a Jordanian writer, who previously served as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al-Manhal Foundation, and a Member of the International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY). Al-Farakh contributed to the editing of the Jordanian Ministry of Culture’s children magazine “Wisam” , and has won several local and Arab awards as well.
Wafa’a Toufiq Al-Qsous, Member
Wafa’a Toufiq Al-Qsous holds an MA in Puppet Arts. She served as the Director of the Jordanian Children’s Theater Festival for three editions, as well as the Director of the Jordanian Festival of Arab Children's Song for eight years. Al-Qsous serves as the Director of one of the first children's channel in the Arab world, ART Teenz, as well as a Member of the Jordanian Artists Association. She also participated in local, Arab and international festivals.
Lina Al-Tal, Member
Lina Al-Tal is the Director of the King Hussein Foundation’s National Center for Culture and Performing Arts. Al-Tal also serves as a Member of the Jordanian Artists Association, Jordanian Theatre Festival, Jordanian Children’s Theater Festival, and Greater Amman Municipality Council. Furthermore, she received the International Grozdanin Kikot Award.
Hashem Gharaibeh, Member
Hashem Gharaibeh is a Jordanian novelist and writer, and served as an Editor-in-Chief of the Greater Amman Municipality’s magazine, Baraem Amman, which was issued in 1997, as well as of the Jordanian Ministry of Culture’s children magazine “Wisam”. Gharaibeh won the Mahmoud Seifeddine Iranian Short Story Award, among others. He has also written and prepared a series of scenarios and radio and television programs, and participated in many Arab cultural and intellectual seminars and conferences.
